Accessing USIT Slack
What is SLACK
Slack is a communication channel used by USIT to facilitate communication between its members. All due-paying members of USIT will be added to the USIT Slack channel. On Slack, you will be able to have conversation with different groups of people depending on your needs and involvement within USIT. You will also receive notifications and announcements about USIT-specific initiatives and recruiting events.
To protect the community-oriented nature of the organization, we ask you to refrain from sharing access to your USIT slack account with members outside of the organization. We also ask that you refrain from using profanity or posting hateful comment on the Slack. Those found partaking in either action will be removed from the Slack. Accessing Default channels
Access to the "Announcements" and "Opportunities" channels are granted to all members. You will be added to the USIT slack within one week of paying your USIT dues and will be able to see these two channels automatically. If you are not in either of these two channels, please add yourself by clicking on "Channels" in the Slack platform and browsing all the channels.
Announcements: USIT-specific announcements such as meeting times, event details, sign-up forms, and room changes will be released in this channel. It is important for you to enable notifications for this channel to receive the latest updates about USIT happenings.
Opportunities: Many companies and recruiters reach out to USIT to pay along invitations to receptions, info sessions, and resume drops. These opportunities will be broadcast in this channel. Make sure you join this channel and enable notifications to receive information about professional events.
An email with notification of access will be sent to your provided email once access has been granted. Please follow the email to set-up your USIT Slack account. If it has been more than a week since you paid dues and you have yet to be granted access, please contact Faith Fulbright at accounting@usiteam.org.
Accessing Additional Channels
The USIT Slack also has several private channels. For example, there is a channel for each analyst group and industry fund. You will be added to these channels by your Senior Analyst or your Portfolio Manager. Please contact them directly for access issues and concerns.
As the year progresses, you may find yourself in need of other channels to productively engage with other USIT members. We encourage you to use Slack as you see fit and as a means to reach out to upperclassmen and mentors in the organization. If you are uncertain about whether a particular action is appropriate, feel free to reach out to a member of the Executive Board.
